A Day at Wally World

I myself, am not a fan of Walmart. I try to avoid it at all costs. However, today my roommate and I noticed that they sell scrubs that are not too expensive. Having seen the price of scrubs recently, I realized that I might just have to bite the bullet and go there, knowing full well that things would not go smoothly. I was right.
Of course, we searched the store for the scrubs and to my surprise- found them quite quickly. They were all multi-colored like and I was super excited about the price. I tried them on- again surprised at how comfortable they were. Thats when I looked down and could see my ankles! Not much to my surprise they were too short. Being tall, I was used to that and after mumbling under my breath about dumb Wallmart not having talls, I moved on to the next thing on my list. You see, I have this watch that I have always loved, but for some reason, the battery gets all jostled out of place and it stops working. I just so happened to have my watch with me and I made my way on up to the jewelry counter. The conversation went a little like this:
Lady: Did you need a new battery or something?
Me: um.. I think so, or its not in place
Lady: Let me see it- oh. Its not a Walmart watch so I'm not allowed to even touch it. Here's a tool though so you can pop the back off like so...
Me: Oh. Okay.
(10 min later, I'm still trying to "pop" this lid off. I'm seeing that its not as easy as she made it sound. And yes, shes still standing there staring at me.)
Me: Can't you just do it. I really dont care.
Lady: (In a very defensive voice) Oh no! No! I can't even touch it. BLAH BLAH Liability BLAH.
(Finally it pops off and the battery comes out along with everything else that was inside)
I wanted to say to her, this would be a lot easier and take a lot less time, if you would just do it! But lets be honest- I was afraid of her.

Of course everything was fine with the battery, it just needed to be replaced in the right place. Now it was time to put it all back together and put the back on again. DO you think that she was legally able to help with that?! NOPE. She talked me through where everything went, which took quite a long time. But the pieces got to where they needed to go. Then to the difficult part.

Lady: Just slide the back on and you'll hear a POP. (FYI: That will never happen. It is not that simple)
Me: (Pushing with all my might and beginning to loose feeling in my hands and fingers) come on- can't you just put it back on?
Lady: (Almost appalled that I would ask yet again) No!

Right then my roommate walked up. I looked her hands over and wondered if she would happen to have freakishly strong fingers. Nope. She pushed and pounded and had no success. However, she suggested asking the man that was right next to us.
So i turned to him and said, "Could you by chance get this back on?" He said, "Sure, I'll try" reached out and took my watch. As he did so I noticed that his fingers were covered with blood!!! I was so shocked that I couldnt speak as I saw him manipulating my watch without explaining to me why he was covered in blood. I felt like saying to him, "I'm sorry, but I didnt realize that you had just committed murder. You dont really need to be touching my watch. What you need is a first aid kit and maybe a call to the Police!" But I refrained and tried to figure out how to NOT touch my watch again! He of course did not have super human strength either to get the back back on and handed my watch out to me. I took it by the very edge where he didnt touch it and thanked him for trying, but wondered why he even tried in the first place. A simple, "Um- I shouldnt touch your watch with blood stained fingers. would have sufficed!) Then the "helpful" walmart lady decided to offer me the clamp. Believe it or not, she actually took my watch from me and placed it on the clamp! I think I might of even gasped because by her explanation I thought it was illegal to touch another person watch! (I was thankful however, because I didnt know how to not touch it again). The clamp did the trick- it made that POP noise I was so desiring to hear and I picked it up by the very edge. I began to throw it into my bag as My roommate came up and said, "Thats really a cute watch/ Can I look at it closer?" and then she reached for it. I quickly grabbed her hand and slowly shook my head no as I moved the cart away from the counter. She had a very perplexed look on her face and wondered why I was being so protective of my watch. After we were far enough away I could explain to her about what had happened. She thanked me for saving her life. Okay, maybe it wasnt that drastic, but at least I saved her from those germs! We quickly went to the bathroom and washed everything!

Wally World- I really wouldnt expect anything different!

That is funny! I haven't had any excitement in my recent ventures to Wally. Thank Heavens.

In Spain, we met a man on the street who had a HUGE growth on the side of his face (Like a baseball growing on his cheek). As if that wasn't freaky enough, he, too, was covered in dried blood--hands, shirt, pants, there was even a little on his face. He was very drunk, and of course, he wanted to talk to us and was even "interested" in the Book of Mormon.

"I'm sorry, but I didn't realize that you had just committed murder..." made me giggle! :)

Good ol' Wally. I hate the place, mainly because it is so busy. I hated it even more in Hawaii where the parking lot was a parking garage of frustration and death.

You should try going to Wally up here where we have a multitude of mullet-wearing red necks who go to Walmart looking the part and sayin' stuff like, "Hey Cleatus! They done got axle grease on sale again!"

That's the best quote I've ever heard: "I'm sorry, but I didnt realize that you had just committed murder." I do enjoy a good story about germs, seeing as I am the world's largest germ-o-phobe. Last week on the plane this lady was trying to open her bag of peanuts with her teeth, thrashing at the packaging like a wild animal. After she had pretty much had every inch of the bag in her mouth, she handed it to me and said "can you open this?" I did, and then used the rest of our flying time to consider all of the different infectious diseases that I might have just contracted. Good times.
